Our popular 'Let's Talk' series is back! Join Abigail Boyd MLC and guests as they discuss the crisis in the early childhood sector
The early childhood education and care sector should be about developing and nurturing young people, helping to socialise and educate them at this developmentally important age. But what should be a sector and profession that puts the rights, dignity and potential of children at its centre has become corrupted by big business and shonky operators growing fat on a steady stream of government subsidies, leading to corners being cut and workers being undervalued – endangering child safety.
Our guest speakers for this event are:
Chey Carter - Founder of Divergent Education
Chey Carter works at the intersection of advocacy, operational reform, and sector innovation. She partners with councils, providers, and frontline educators to improve compliance and safety, uplift workforce capability, and address organisational risks. Chey is committed to driving systemic reform and raising the standards of integrity and safety across the ECEC sector.
Indu Sathyan
My name is Indu Sathyan, and I am currently working as a full time educator in an early learning centre in the public sector while also pursuing my bachelor's in early childhood education. I also have a brief experience working at a private centre, in the sector. I am really excited to be here and to share some insight from my work and studies.
