We’d love you to join us for an open and welcoming conversation about racism in Tasmania — how it affects people, and what we can do together to create a fairer, more inclusive community.

Racism can affect anyone. It can cause deep harm - to people’s wellbeing, confidence, and sense of belonging. It also affects how our communities come together and support each other.

Sherlock and Dutta Consulting, have received funding from the Tasmanian Government’s Social Cohesion Grants Program, through the Royal Bengal Club of Tasmania, to carry out an important new study on racism in Tasmania. This project will gather stories and data to better understand how racism shows up in our state, how it impacts people, and what can be done to address it.

Unfortunately, there have been several incidents of racially motivated violence in Tasmania in recent years. But there hasn’t been enough local research to show how common racism really is here. This project aims to change that.

We’re inviting community members to join an information-sharing session to talk about their experiences and learn more about the project. Everyone is welcome - racism can affect people from any background.
