Two short films. One urgent conversation about protecting oceans, reefs and coastal communities from offshore fossil fuel expansion.

Join us in Ballarat for a special community film night fundraiser featuring two powerful short documentaries: Corals’ Last Stand (30 mins) and Southern Blast (40 mins).

Corals’ Last Stand features Tim Winton and John Butler in the campaign to protect WA’s pristine Scott Reef from new gas drilling.

Southern Blast tells the story of the community campaign against seismic blasting in the Otway Basin, closer to home on Victoria’s south-west coast.

Together, these films ask: what are we willing to protect, and how do communities stand up when fossil fuel expansion threatens the places we love?

If you can, arrive from 6.30pm to buy dinner and drinks from The Painted Lady menu, settle in, and support the venue before the films begin. Food and drinks are not included in the ticket price. Films start at 7.15pm.

The night includes a Q&A with in-person and online guests:

Sophie McNeill
Greens WA MLC, journalist, human rights campaigner, and WA Greens spokesperson for Fossil Fuels and Climate Change, and Marine and Coastal, Healthy Oceans

Dr Sarah Mansfield MLC
Deputy Leader, Victorian Greens, and Member for Western Victoria

Mitch Pope
Spokesperson for OCEAN, Otway Coastal Environment Action Network, and featured photographer with the Great Southern Reef Foundation

Come together with others who care about reefs, coastlines and climate, enjoy a relaxed night of film, food, drinks and conversation, and support the Ballaarat and District Greens Victorian State Election Campaign.

Whether you already know these campaigns well or are just curious to learn more, you’ll be warmly welcome.

All welcome. Come on your own or bring a friend.
