In conversation with Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh

The Multicultural Greens and Jewish Greens are thrilled to announce one of Palestine’s foremost environmental experts, Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh will be joining us to share his insights of the harmful impact of occupation on Palestinian people and the environment.

Professor Qumsiyeh will detail how colonisation has enabled the state of Israel to remove Palestinian people as well as endemic flora and fauna, replacing them with millions of invasive species, causing a biodiversity and extinction crisis.

He will outline how the state uses greenwashing to maintain and expand its presence, enabling it to normalise the discourse around the settler state and paint itself as a progressive force for climate change mitigation, and stewardship of an arid and under-developed land.

For one night only, Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh will be in conversation sharing with us how the struggle for liberation and climate justice in Palestine is closely intertwined, requiring the global community to come together to grow a solidarity movement for peace, land rights and environmental justice.
