Ever since Labor announced they were going to demolish the 44 towers, public housing residents, advocates and the Greens have been working tirelessly to get more information and stop this disastrous plan!
And together, in March, we had a huge win by landing a parliamentary inquiry into Labor’s plans for public housing. An inquiry creates a powerful opportunity for the wider community to have their say on the impact of Labor’s decision, relocation plans, the future of these public housing sites and the future of public housing in Victoria.
When submissions open it’ll be over to us, the community as a whole, to make submissions to the inquiry – a really important step in the process that will help shape the final recommendations.
If we want the Government to listen to the community, we must speak out loudly and collectively.
But what even is an inquiry or a submission, when do we have to write one, who should write one, and what does it have to do with you?
In this Online Briefing, Samantha Ratnam and your Greens MPs will answer all these questions and more.
Whether you have lived experience in public housing, are a public housing advocate, or anything in between: if you have an experience around public housing or with public housing residents that you think the parliament needs to know about, this briefing is for you.
Your submission is so important because it will help shape the final recommendations of the public housing inquiry. That means that, together, we can create the meaningful change we know is needed to save public housing in Victoria.
