The state govt. has announced they will abolish VicHealth, Victoria's only health promotion foundation. This matters because health promotion fights the influence of big corporations that make billions in profit from products that cause preventable diseases, like big tobacco, alcohol, and junk food.
VicHealth works on sun smart campaigns, they help people quit smoking and vaping, and they take on the major corporations who benefit from making us sick. Industries like big tobacco and junk food companies that Labor and the Liberals are too timid to oppose. But if we rally together alongside the community, we can make this stop.
We need 2000 physical signatures to force a debate in parliament about this closure. Come along for a few hours, or the entire day, to speak with community members about the proposed measure and get their signatures to resist. We have booked a kiosk for the weekend, and we will provide all the required training.
