This session explores the surprising but critical connections between the Arctic and Australia in the era of the climate crisis.
In the Arctic, the extraction of oil, gas, and minerals is affecting the world’s climate patterns. Melting Arctic ice puts Australia’s ecosystems, water security, and coastal communities at risk.
By examining Arctic extractivism, we can draw lessons for Australia’s own climate policies.
